13 Frighteningly Effective Tips for Storing Outdoor Patio Furniture

13 Frighteningly Effective Tips for Storing Outdoor Patio Furniture

Happy Halloween autumnal audience!  As the temperatures change, daylight dwindles, and the harvest season shifts many foodservice and hospitality leisure activities indoors, it is a good time to brew up a year-round storage plan to help protect your outdoor resin furniture from things that go bump in the night.  Grosfillex outdoor resin furniture will stand up to those bumps and is crafted to endure the terrors of frequent outdoor use.

In between planning costumes and candy this holiday, consider the following ideas to help preserve your investment for the long haul.  Whether bringing your furniture indoors for the winter off-season or guarding your items from ghouls and ghosts nightly - do not tarry, we are here to help make furniture storage less scary:

1. Clean First

Cleaning

Before storing resin furniture, thoroughly clean your furniture to remove dirt, debris, and stains. This helps prevent mildew and keeps other stored items clean.

2. Inspect

Next, inspect your furniture and remove any product from service that shows signs of damage or excessive wear.

3. Store in a Dry, Cool Place

Keep your furniture away from extreme temperatures and moisture. You can store it in a garage, shed, basement, or under a tarp. If you use a tarp, make sure it's tied down securely and leave a gap at the bottom for air circulation.

4. Use Covers

Cover

If you're storing your furniture outdoors, use weatherproof covers to protect it from rain, snow, and wind. Look for UV-resistant material (even in winter) and make sure the covers fit properly and secure tightly.   Grosfillex recommends placing your furniture in a sheltered area during consistently cold temperatures.

5. Use Covers with Dry Vents

Look for covers with dry vents that allow air to cycle through without letting in dirt, debris, or water. Make sure the covers are thick enough to protect the furniture, but easy to put on and take off with buckles, straps, or zippers.

6. Stack or Fold

Stacking

If space is limited, you can stack chairs and foldable items neatly. You can also use furniture racks, bins or sturdy shelves to organize and maximize storage space.

7. Use Climate Controlled Storage

A regulated storage unit maintains a moderate temperature for your furniture.

8. Clean and Dry Cushions

Cushions

Before storing cushions, fabric, and umbrellas, clean and dry them completely to prevent mold and mildew. Use fabric-safe cleaning solutions to avoid damaging the fabric. Afterwards, consider vacuum-sealing which provides an extra layer of shielding and frees up space.

9. Take the Wind Out of Storms

Responsible care for food service and hospitality venues includes taking down umbrellas and securing outdoor furniture pieces that might cause injury or cause other property damage if/when the wind picks up.

10. Off-Site Storage

If venue space is restricted, stack your furniture and look for local, well-respected companies who will handle your investment with care, shrink-wrapping and storing items at a reasonable price.

11. Emerging from Hibernation

When removing from storage, make sure that your furniture is clear of any debris, all functional issues have been fixed, and the surfaces gently cleaned so your gear is in shipshape condition, ready for guests to enjoy.

12. When, What, Where

Storage

Decide the best time to enact your storage plan and whether you need short-term storage or if a longer spell of several months is required. Decide which furniture you want to store and identify where it will be housed during non-use dormancy.

13. Padding Protection

Moving and shifting furniture either during the storage process or while “dormant” always runs the risk of damages. Avoid the stress of dings, dents and cracks by using high-quality Grosfillex durable outdoor resin furniture and use bubble wrap, blankets, towels, and other padding to help nest your furniture when moving, stacking, layering, and standing against walls or other furniture.

There is nothing ominous or eerie about these storage tips which can be applied year-round to help extend the life of your outdoor resin tables and seating.  Calm any spine-chilling furniture storage fear knowing that your well-maintained seating and dining items are properly prepared, cared for, and secure.  Take the “trick” out of maintenance and storage woes and “treat” yourself to peace of mind this Halloween season.
